Interactive Light Sculpture An Early Concept

This month I’m participating in Creative Morning’s Release Day — a creative challenge to conceive, develop, and ship something meaningful before the end of the month. I’ve been really inspired by the local Creative Morning meetups in Salt Lake City over the last year. Super rad way to meet and hear from other creatives around the state.

My project is an interactive light sculpture — a tall pillar outlined with reactive LEDs with a collaborative game built in. Picture it at the center of an exhibit in a creative space, with a handful of kids standing around it, trying to coax light, sound and movement out of this towering machine. It’s still an early concept with more changes in store, but you can see the bones of what it will become.

There are several dozen other concepts scattered through the graveyard of iterative design. You can see a few of them below. Many I hate that I created. Some had promise, but also insurmountable issues. So goes the creative life.
